Nakonde man shot dead

Nakonde, July 17, ZANIS —–A 30 –year-old man of Nakonde district in Muchinga province has been shot dead by unknown people.


Muchinga Province Police Commissioner Remmy Kajoba has confirmed the incident in an interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Nakonde today.


Mr Kajoba has identified the deceased as Felix Sintumfya of Ntindi Village in Nakonde Central Ward in Chieftainess Waitwika’s area.


Mr Kajoba said Sintumfya was shot dead outside his make-shift shop near Cha cha cha Guest House around 19:40 hours last night.


He said that a Muzzle loader was used in the shooting adding that Sintumfya was shot at close range and suffered multiple gun wounds in the chest and right arm.


The assailants also had to cut off a ring on the deceased’s finger.


The police chief said that the motive behind the shooting and killing of Sintumfya is not yet known but that police suspect a land dispute.


Mr Kajoba said the late Sintumfya is alleged to have sold a family piece of land and pocketed the money.


Mr. Kajoba said police are already on the ground and that they will not leave any stone unturned during the investigations.


The body of Sintumfya is lying at Nakonde First Level Health Centre.
