Angola, Mozambique in COSAFA final

Kitwe, July 17, ZANIS —- Mozambique and Angola have qualified to the ongoing 2013 COSAFA  Cup Tournament plate finals after beating Namibia and Malawi respectively in the games played at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe yesterday.

Asphone Manjare scored the lone goal for the Black Mambas in the 45th minute of the game to claim victory.

The Mambas who dominated the game in both halves could have scored more goals but kept on wasting their chances until the end of the match.

On the other hand, Namibia tried had to equalize but their efforts were all in vain due to poor finishing.

Earlier Malawi opened the score line against Angola in the 6th minute through Gasting Simukonda  in a tightly contested match but Malawi failed to keep the pace and conceded three goals to end the match  in a 3 -2  result in favour of Angola.

Cristovao Paciencia scored twice for Angola while Antonio Nzayinawo sealed the victory.

Earlier Angola’s Antonio de Oliviera netted an own goal but that could not take away the victory from Angola who proved too good for Malawi.

And speaking to journalists after the match, Malawi Coach Tom Saintfiet said his team had no excuse for losing the match because they had several scoring chances which they just wasted.

The visibly angrily coach said some players will be dropped from the national team indefinitely so that better and serious  players can be given the chance as the team prepare for the world cup qualifying matches.

And Namibia coach Gustavo Ferrin conceded defeat saying his strikers were failing to score despite creating several scoring chances.

Angola and Mozambique will now battle it out in the plate final at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe tomorrow while Zambia takes on South Africa in the Semi-Final match at the new Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola today.

Zimbabwe and Lesotho will also crush in another semi-final match at the same stadium.
