Govt commends UNICEF for funding school construction works in Mongu

Mongu, July 13, 2013, ZANIS —  Government has commended United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for funding the construction of Malabo primary school in Western Province at a cost of K3, 904,713.

Education deputy minister Mr. Patrick Ngoma said schools in Western Province especially in the Barotse flood plains have continued to being in a very bad shape, mainly due to the perennial floods.

Mr. Ngoma noted that this implied that many children in these areas have not had an opportunity to attend decent schooling like their counterparts in other parts of the country.

ZANIS reports that the  Education deputy minister said this during the ground breaking ceremony of the construction of Malabo primary in Mongu yesterday.

The new school  will be constructed as a floating school in the Barotse plains during floods.
