65 year old Mazabuka villager commits suicide

 

Mazabuka, July 8th, 2013, ZANIS  —-    A 65 year old man of Munenga village in Mazabuka District has committed suicide by hanging himself.

 

 

And a 29 year old man of Linda Compound in Livingstone has also committed suicide by drinking Doom insecticide in unexplained circumstances at Inamuka guest house where he had booked a room.

 

 

 

ZANIS reports from Mazabuka that Southern Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga confirmed the incidence in an interview today.

 

 

 

Ms. Katanga identified the deceased as Burton Mukampande who hanged himself using a rope on the neck.

 

 

 

Ms.Katanga disclosed that according to the deceased’s son, Mukampande hanged himself on roof poles in the bedroom in the early hours of Sunday morning between 02:00hours and 05:00hours.

 

 

 

A suicide note was found in the deceased’s trousers pocket by police who rushed to the scene to retrieve the body.

 

 

 

The body was picked by the police and conveyed in the Mortuary and upon searching him, a suicide note was found in his pocket and is lying in the Mazabuka hospital mortuary.

 

 

 

Meanwhile,  a 29 year old man of Linda Compound in Livingstone has also committed suicide by drinking Doom insecticide in unexplained circumstances at Inamuka guest house where he had booked a room.

 

 

 

Ms.Katanga disclosed in an interview that Sitali Liboma was found dead on Sunday afternoon by the guest house proprietor Kelvin Muyunda after realizing that his client was not checking out of the room.

 

 

 

Katanga stated that police officers that broke into the room found Liboma’s dead body lying on the bed with a 50 mls bottle containing the poisonous substance on his side.

 

 

The body was picked up and was taken to Batoka hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
