Govt. bails out three under privileged communities in Mazabuka District 

Mazabuka, July 4th, 2013, ZANIS  —-  Government has come to the aid of three underprivileged communities of Mazabuka District and is distributing to them a wetland food security pack.

 

Among the beneficiaries include women and Child headed households, the disabled and chronically ill patients of Mazabuka’s Shimungalu, Kabanje and Manyonyo area as beneficiaries of the food pack.

 

ZANIS reports that  District Commissioner Eugene Munyama  confirmed the development in an interview  in Mazabuka District,   yesterday.

He said that a total of sixty households in the three areas stand to benefit from the pack that includes 110X 50 kg bags of Urea fertilizer, 100X 50 kg bags of  D.Compound fertilizer as well as 100X5kg bags of maize seed.

 

Mr. Munyama stated that the wetland pack that has been released by government through the ministry of community development mother and child health is aimed at sustaining the livelihoods of the disadvantaged in society.

 

“We identified the beneficiaries using existing structures in the three areas and the program is a two year cycle before the beneficiaries are weaned off ,” he stated.

 

Mr. Munyama has since encouraged all those that fall in the categories in the three named areas who have not yet benefitted from the program to come forward and register in order for them to be included next year.

 

He revealed that the distribution of food pack consignment started this morning and that the pack will be distributed at the door step of those that will benefit.
