Sata counsels Mumba

Republican President, Michael Sata has urged the opposition MMD president, Nevers Mumba to halt his ill advised and misplaced attacks on the country’s judiciary.

Mr Sata said Pastor Mumba must realise that launching irrational verbal attacks on the judiciary suggests that he is petitioning his own competence as a leader.

On Sunday, pastor Mumba questioned the Supreme Court ruling to nullify the Petauke Central Constituency seat which was held by MMD’s Dora Siliya.

The Head of State has since described pastor Mumba’s attacks on the judiciary and the Supreme Court as unfortunate but not surprising, saying his recent reckless and bankrupt views tell it all.

Mr Sata said the embattled MMD leader should, however, concentrate on resolving the internal problems his party is facing rather than resorting to attacking the judiciary.

The President further advised Pastor Mumba to respect the judiciary in his capacity as someone aspiring to lead this country.

This is contained in a statement issued to the Zambian News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Lusaka  on July 2nd by Special Assistance to the President for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah.
