Aspiring Candidates urged to adhere to electoral code of conduct
Solwezi, June 26, ZANIS…. Solwezi East Constituency Assistant Returning Officer Geoffrey Kaleji has appealed to aspiring candidates from all political parties contesting in the forthcoming by-elections to adhere to the electoral code of conduct.
Mr. Kaleji said aspiring candidates taking part in the Solwezi East constituency by-election have a critical role to play in holding peaceful elections and must advise their members to observe the electoral code of conduct and any necessary steps to ensure compliance.
He was speaking in Solwezi yesterday during an Electoral Commission of Zambia meeting with aspiring candidates for Solwezi East Constituency by-election in readiness for the nominations tomorrow.
Mr Kaleji also cautioned the aspiring candidates to desist from using any language which can incite hatred or violence against other opponents during their campaigns.
Solwezi East Constituency parliamentary by-election is slated for July 25.
The seat fell vacant following the resignation of opposition Movement for Multi-party Democracy area Member of Parliament Richard Taima to join the ruling Patriot Front.
