PF confident of winning Solwezi East parley seat

The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) in Solwezi is optimistic that the party will win the Solwezi East parliamentary seat in the forthcoming by- election.

Solwezi district PF chairperson Yobe Banda said Solwezi was no longer a stronghold of the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) and the United Party for National Development (UPND).

Mr. Banda told ZANIS in an interview that people have welcomed and appreciated the developmental projects that the PF has so far implemented in the district since it came into power 19 months ago.

He said the ruling party has done all the ground work and it was now ready for the parliamentary by-election.

And Mr. Banda stated that the Patriotic Front was advocating for peace before, during and after the by-elections.

He appealed to party members to continue being peaceful and advised other political parties that will take part in the election to preach messages of hope to the people of Solwezi East.


Meanwhile, Mr. Banda has clarified that there were no more wrangles in the party as reported during the nominations.

He said peace has since been restored in the party in Solwezi.

He explained that it was normal for to have differences in any political party during events of such nature adding that the situation has however been dealt with within the party.


He has since encouraged the members who have not been adopted to rally behind the candidate that the National Executive Committee (NEC) has endorsed.
