First Lady in Solwezi to launch one stop GBV survivors’ centre

First Lady Christine Kaseba-Sata is in Solwezi district in North-Western Province to launch a one stop centre for gender based violence (GBV) survivors.

Dr. Kaseba-Sata arrived in Solwezi this morning.

The First Lady, who is accompanied by Gender and Child Development Minister, Inonge Wina landed at Solwezi Airport aboard a Proflight plane at exactly 09:30 hours.

She was welcomed by North-Western Province Minister, Nathanial Mubukwanu, Provincial Permanent Secretary, Augustine Seyuba, senior government officials and Patriotic Front (PF) officials.

The one stop centre for gender based violence (GBV) survivors, which is an initiative of the Young Women Christian Association in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Kansanshi Mining PLC, is situated within Solwezi General Hospital premises.

According to a tentative programme made available to ZANIS in Solwezi this morning, Dr. Kaseba will tour the cervical cancer unit, peadiatric and maternity wards at Solwezi General Hospital before launching the centre.

Dr. Kaseba is expected to fly back to Lusaka today after concluding her scheduled programme in the mining town of Solwezi.
