—-Twenty-two United Party for National Development (UPND) members in Feira Constituency yesterday defected and joined the ruling Patriotic Front PF during a rally held in Kavalamanja.

Home Affairs Minister, Edgar Lungu, who is also the PF campaign manager for Feira Constituency, welcomed the defectors and congratulated them, saying they had made the right decision.

Mr Lungu said the PF as a party in government welcomes anybody willing to work with it as it is a democratic party which allows divergent views.

He said PF is like a church and therefore welcomes members from other political parties willing to work and develop the country.

The minister said the PF would continue to accommodate defectors because there is strength in unity.

Mr Lungu urged the defectors to work together with the PF government to enhance development in Luangwa district.

And the group representative, Zuze Njobvu, a former assistant coordinator UPND, said they decided to defect because the PF was on the right path.

Mr Njobvu said he and his colleagues decided to defect to the ruling party because of the developmental projects currently taking place in Luangwa in a short period the PF has been in office.
