Palestine hails ties with Zambia

PALESTINE is indebted to President Sata and Zambia for the warm relations between the two countries, that country’s deputy Prime Minister Ziyad Abu Amro has said.
Dr Amro said this yesterday in Ramallah, Palestine, when he met Patriotic Front secretary-general Wynter Kabimba.
This is according to a statement released by Patriotic Front director for media and publicity Chanda Mfula.
Mr Mfula said Dr Amro said he hopes Mr Kabimba’s visit to Palestine will rejuvenate the 36 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
And Mr Kabimba said Zambia has maintained unbroken diplomatic relations with Palestine since 1977 when the Palestine Liberation Organisation opened its embassy in Lusaka.
Mr Kabimba said Zambia is proud to have voted with the rest of the world at the United Nations to grant Palestine the status of a “non-member observer state” last year.
Meanwhile, Mr Kabimba held a meeting with the Commissioner of International Relations of the Palestine National Liberation Movement (FATAH) Nabeel Shaath who also called for strengthening of ties between the two parties.
Dr Shaath said FATAH enjoys strong relations with many African political parties.
He also congratulated Mr Kabimba on his election as president of the Council of African Political Parties.
And Mr Kabimba said the PF and FATAH are pursuing similar social and economic programmes with a common purpose of improving the quality of life of all citizens, especially the poor.
Mr Kabimba said the development programmes in Palestine, especially in education, health and agriculture, are impressive and Zambia will learn a lot from the programmes.
