16 year old girl commits suicide over her menses in Siavonga District
Siavonga, June 18th, 2013, ZANIS — .A 16 year old girl of Nabutezi village in Siavonga district has allegedly committed suicide.
ZANIS reports from Siavonga District that both Police and Siavonga district commissioner Brave Mweetwa confirmed the incident in an interview, today.
Mr. Mweetwa said the girl who was in marriage believed to have committed suicide by hanging herself with a loop to a tree in the bush between 16 and 19hours of yesterday.
" I can confirm that a young girl who was marriage from Nabutezi village in Chief Simaamba chiefdom committed suicide yesterday in the bush.
“ The parent’s to the deceased girl told me that their daughter had a serious period pains and that she used to complain that if period pains do not stop she would kill herself ".
However, the police suspected no foul play.
The body of a named girl was found by the police 3 kilometres away from her place in the bush and was taken to Siavonga hospital mortuary yesterday.
The deceased body has since been taken back to Nabutezi village today for burial.
