World Vision pledges continued support to communities

Choma, June 16, ZANIS ——-World Vision Zambia (WVZ) says it will continue implementing community development programmes that help improve the welfare of children in rural areas.

WVZ Regional Food Security officer, Stanley Mateke says his organisation is complementing government efforts in many areas aimed at improving the welfare of under privileged rural children.

He said apart from sponsoring children’s education, World Vision is involved in agricultural related projects aimed at improving household food security and ultimately the nutritional status of children.

He was speaking in Chief Choongo’s area in Monze district when the organisation handed over a borehole to the local community.

The sinking of the borehole was funded by Finance Bank Zambia.

Mr Mateke said World Vision is committed to partnering with the people in rural areas by helping them find sustainable solutions for the future of their children, families and communities.

He said World Vision implements other programs that benefit communities in Zambia such as partnerships with churches and communities in providing HIV counselling, care and support.

The organisation also works in improving mother and infant health by constructing mother’s shelters and maternity wings that will ensure mothers deliver under qualified medical supervision.
