PF disowns Nchelenge demonstrators
Nchelenge, June 14,2013, ZANIS..The Patriotic Front – PF has distanced itself from the recent demonstrations staged in Nchelenge district by some alleged party members this week.
Bahati constituency Patriotic Front member of Parliament Harry Kalaba who is also a member of the Provincial PF Executive Committee says the protest was not organized by the ruling party.
ZANIS reports that Mr. Kalaba said preliminary investigations by the party have shown that opposition youths and some members of the business community from Kashikishi were behind the demonstration.
He told a gathering at Kilwa island primary school grounds yesterday that the party has launched a full scale investigation into the matter.
Mr. Kalaba said if any PF members will be found wanting they will be penalized according to the party’s guidelines.
He said the PF is an organized party which has properly laid down procedures of lodging complaints, adding that the behaviour of the demonstrators was not in line with the PF’s way of operation.
Mr. Kalaba said the Nchelenge Constituency Area Member of Parliament (MP) is determined to see to it that the area is developed, adding that he is the one who alerted government on the hunger situation at Kilwa Island.
On Tuesday this week a group claiming to be PF members held a demonstration against area Member of Prliament, Raymond Mpundu and Councillors for allegedly abandoning the electorates after winning the September 2011 Elections.
The demonstrators were among other things demanding the stepping up of implementation of development projects in the area.
