Chinsali district commissioner Evelyn Kangwa has refuted media reports that she ordered youths to beat up MMD president Nevers Mumba over the weekend.
In a walk –in- interview with the Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) in Chinsali yesterday, June 11th , Ms. Kangwa described media reports that she ordered the youths to beat up Dr. Mumba as unfounded and baseless.
Ms. Kangwa has challenged Dr. Mumba to come out in the open and confirm that he was attacked while attending the funeral of the late senior citizen Holland Nkonde in Chinsali.
Ms. Kangwa said as a law abiding citizen she cannot pay the youths in order for them to beat up Dr. Mumba.
Ms. Kangwa said people of Chinsali are busy with developmental projects taking place in the provincial headquarter and cannot be derailed by people like the MMD leader.
Ms. Kangwa claimed that MMD is a finished party in the district adding that as a ruling party, PF youths cannot sink so low as to mobilize themselves to beat up people like Dr. Mumba.
Dr. Mumba on Sunday sneaked into the district to attend the funeral of the late Nkonde who passed away in Lusaka on Thursday after a short illness.
Dr. Mumba later visited Lubwa mission about 6 kilo meters from Chinsali before driving back to Lusaka.
Efforts by ZANIS to get a comment from Dr. Mumba by press time failed.
