DEC arrests French woman for drug trafficking

The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Eastern province has arrested a 39 year-old female French national for trafficking in more than 260 grams of cannabis.

 

According to a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today by DEC deputy Public Relations Officer Theresa Katongo, Audrey Diana Fayard, 39, of 29 Rue Louis Blanc, Paris in France, was arrested for trafficking in 268 grams of loose cannabis and 689 grams of cannabis oil.

 

And Ms. Katongo has added that the commission has also arrested a Tanzanian national of Bagamayo, Chagulilo Matson Haintishi, 32, for trafficking in loose cannabis weighing 35 grams.

 

Meanwhile, the Commission in North Western Province has arrested three people for trafficking in cannabis.

 

Ms. Katongo said the trio were arrested in an operation which the DEC conducted in Kabompo and Kasempa Districts.

 

Those that were arrested include Teddy Lupasa, 32, of Mabebe area in Kabompo for trafficking in 6.2 kilograms of cannabis, Handson Mulapa, 37, a peasant farmer of Shapenda area in Kasempa for trafficking in 1.08 kilograms of cannabis and Kennedy Kabondo, 30, of Kamusongolwa area in Kasempa for trafficking in 4.3 grams of cannabis.

 

Ms. Katongo said all suspects will appear in court soon.
