Govt recruits 100 workers for Lunga district

–Lunga District Commissioner,  Raphael   Kauseni, has disclosed that government has approved the initial recruitment of over 100 permanent and pensionable public service workers on the establishment for the newly created District in Luapula Province.

And Local Government and Housing Minister, Emerine Kabanshi, says government will construct 20 houses for officers that have been deployed to man the newly created district.

Meanwhile, Lunga District Council Secretary, Oswel Mpofu has also disclosed that the Luapula Province Planning Authority (LPPA) has approved the district plans to kick start construction works of the district administration block and other auxiliary buildings.

Briefing Ms Kabanshi who is on the tour of the district today, Mr Kauseni explained that government last year authorized the fast track recruitment of key public service workers to start serving the people.

The District Commissioner further explained that the full establishment of the district will go to about 250 when the district will be fully fledged.

 

He pointed out that the district administration has commenced a verification exercise to establish the correct establishment for the district.

Earlier, Lunga District Council Secretary, Oswel Mpofu, also disclosed that the Luapula Province Planning Authority (LPPA) has approved the district plans to kick start construction works of the district administration block and other auxiliary buildings.

Mr Mpofu said the district outline plan has allocated 1000 plots and plans are also underway to increase the number following overwhelming response from investors.

He stated that utility companies have been also allocated land to put up their facilities in order to facilitate provision of services to the people.

And in response, Local Government and Housing Minister, Emerine Kabanshi, said government will construct 20 houses for officers that have been deployed to man the newly created district.

Ms Kabanshi, who is also Luapula Constituency Member of Parliament, said government will construct seven modern health posts.

She said government is doing everything to ensure that Lunga has facilities befitting a district not just in name but with accompanying buildings.
