Transit student arrested for drug trafficking

A 32 years old South African student has been arrested for importing and trafficking in 17.7 kilograms of Ephedrine.

 

Drug Enforcement Commission Public Relations Samuel Silomba told ZANIS in a press statement on May 31st that Pamela Bananzi was apprehended at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport upon arrival from India aboard an Ethopian Airways.

 

Bananzi was scheduled to fly to South Africa on June 1, this year but is currently detained in custody pending further investigations and court appearance.

 

Meanwhile Mr Silomba says, the commission on the Copperbelt province has arrested a 72 years old Somali national for trafficking in Miraa.

 

Suleman Ahmed Jama has been arrested and charged for trafficking in one bundle of Miraa weighing 250 grams.

 

Jama was apprehended in Ndeke township of Ndola and is expected to appear in court soon.
