CHIPOLOPOLO captain Christopher Katongo believes that his team is more than capable of qualifying for Brazil 2014.

Katongo, who plays for Chinese club Henan Construction, has expressed his confidence that the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winners can take advantage of their one point lead over Ghana at the top of their qualification group.

“Two wins can maintain our edge against Ghana heading into September’s concluding match, when we play against them away,” Katongo told FIFA.com

“For Zambian fans, there are two major goals – winning the African Cup and going to the World Cup. After achieving the former last year, it is time for us to step up a gear and qualify for Brazil 2014.

“If we make it, we can proudly announce we are the most accomplished squad – if not the best one – in our history,” the 30-year-old added.

As well as Ghana, Herve Renard’s Zambia are joined by Sudan and Lesotho in Group D, with nine points available before the play-off stage.

The winners of the ten groups will play-off against each other, meaning only five teams will progress to the World Cup finals next year.
