ECZ names validated candidates in June by-elections
Lusaka, May 28, ZANIS ——-The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has validated the filing in of nominations for all the five (5) candidates in the June 20th Feira parliamentary by-election.
The ECZ has also validated the filing in of nomination of 11 candidates in the 11 local government by-elections in 6 districts across the country to be held on the 20th of June next month.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, ECZ Public Relations Manager Chris Akufuna disclosed the names of the candidates for the Feira parliamentary by-election as PF’s Patrick Ngoma, UNIP’s Charles Kanyama, NAREP’s Samuel Sikaonga, UPND’s Eularia Zulu and MMD’s Elias Phiri.
Mr Akufuna also named the wards where the local government by-elections are taking place as Mbozi, Kabvumo ,Chisiya, Chimphanje all of Chadiza district of Eastern Province, Justine Kabwe in Luanshya on the Copperbelt, Masaninga and Chibale wards in Serenje in Central Province.
Other wards are Mushipashi in Mansa in Luapula Province, Phwazi and Kabowo in Luangwa district in Lusaka province and Sekute in Kazungula in Southern province.
The Feira parliamentary seat fell vacant after the resignation Mr Patrick Ngoma from the MMD to join the ruling PF.
