He explained that since Shangombo was split into two districts “Siooma” and Shangombo districts, respectively, the still remained without a traditional ruler.

Mr. Shomeno made the appeal when he addressed the National Committee on Anti Personnel Landmines in Shangombo district.

He stated that Chief Masinda is ready to work with government in bring development to Shangombo if only government recognized him as a traditional leader.

The district council chairman said chief Masinda found it difficult to participate in the development affairs of the district as government has not recognized him as a chief.

And response, National Committee on Anti Personnel Landmine Chairman Gabriel Namulambe said that the current government police does not allow government to recognize new chiefs.

Mr. Namulambe said government is not in a position to recognize new traditional leaders unless the current police is changed.

However Mr. Namulambe said Chief Masinda should feel free to work with the government as he is still a traditional leader.
