Unknown criminals this morning broke into Finance Bank in Serenje district and got away with a total sum of K95 million in old currency notes.

According to a statement made available to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Police Public Relations Officer, Elizabeth Kanjela, the criminals climbed over the wall fence and went to the strong room where they blew up the safe containing the money.

Ms Kanjela has since appealed to banks and members of the public to be cautious and report to the nearest police station anyone trying to exchange huge sums of old currency into the rebased notes.

She further called on members of the public who may have information leading to the arrest of the criminals to report to any nearest police station.
