MAGNUM Security Services has donated KR5000 to the Zambia Table Tennis Association as sponsorship for this weekend’s national junior championships.
Magnum managing director Mohammed Koya said the company was ready to make their sponsorship of the national junior championship a yearly program.
Koya said he was prompted to start sponsoring the tournament because of the progress the sport had made this year.
“Since last year we have been following with keen interest in both the print and and electronic media the progress which table tennis is making in Zambia and how many young players are taking up the sport,” Koya said.
He said the sponsorship was in line with the company’s corporate social responsibility adding that it was important to plough back into the community in order to prevent youths from engaging in distractive vices.

And ZTTA patron Haroon Ghumra said the association was indebted to Magnum for coming on board to join other sponsors who had helped in building the sport.
Ghumra said the competition was growing every time there was a tournament adding the association was expecting about 160 players to take part in the tournament.
“We have new sponsors every time. This is the fifth edition of the tournament and we have new sponsors. We also use these tournaments to identify talent so the partnership with he corporate world is helping us a lot,” Ghumra said.
He further said some clubs on the Copperbelt had shown interest in taking part in the tournament and would see if there was time to include them which would trigger the number of participants.
