Zambia open golf tournament

THE first Zambia Open ProAm tees-off today at the Lusaka Golf Club where 120 amateur golfers will test their skills against 40 professionals.
The ProAm sponsored by Indo Zambia Bank is the first of the two that would precede the actual Zambia Open which tees-off on Thursday.
A number of local golfers have confirmed participation while a horde of foreign golfers started arriving in the country on Sunday.
Zambia Open organising committee vice chairperson Roy Penny confirmed that the ProAm would tee-off at exactly 07:10hrs in the morning before the prize presentation at a cocktail later in the evening.
Penny assured the foreign based golfers that they should expect perfect conditions ahead of the tournament as the weather would be favourable for the sport.
“We are set to go. The golfers who are coming to Zambia should know that there will be good weather, it’s important to let them know that there will be no rain,” Penny said.
Penny said the LOC organising committee was expecting a successful Zambia Open with a lot of competition looking at the entries for the tournament.
He further thanked other partners who had joined help stage the competition such as Maamba Collories and, Investrust Bank.
Zambia will be represented by 11 professional golfers, 8 who are locally based and three from who are based abroad.
The second ProAm sponsored by Airtel Consortium will take place tomorrow.
