– Government has set aside million KR 22 million for the establishment of Provincial television stations in the country.

Chairperson for the Committee spearheading the establishment of the provincial TV stations, Duncan Mbazima confirmed the development to ZANIS in Kasama recently.

Mr Mbazima said construction of the regional TV studios will commence soon.

He said the Ministry of Communications, Works and Supply has already come up with the standard designs for TV stations in the provinces.

Mr Mbazima reiterated government’s commitment in facilitating the setting up of the regional TV stations.

And Mr Mbazima disclosed that plans by government to establish TV studios in the 10 provincial capitals across the country have gained momentum.

He said his committee recently surveyed land at the ZANIS premise in Kasama where it established that it is ideal for the construction of the regional TV studios.

Mr Mbazima has since assured members of the public that his committee is working flat out to ensure that the establishment of regional TV stations becomes a reality.

Last year, President Michael Sata appointed a committee led by Mr Mbazima to start the process of establishing Provincial TV stations in order to enhance access to information by all Zambians.
