Foreign Affairs Minister arrives in Cuba

-Foreign Affairs Minister, Effron Lungu, has arrived in Havanna, Cuba for an official visit.

 

Dr Lungu arrived at Jose Marti International Airport at 17:40 hours yesterday and was welcomed by Hector Igarza, Director of African Division and Zambia’s Ambassador to Canada Bob Samakayi.

 

Meanwhile, a tight schedule awaits Dr Lungu as he is today expected to meet with Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment before meeting with the Minister for Higher Education.

 

According to a programme obtained by ZANIS, Dr Lungu is also today expected to meet with the National Assembly of the People’s Power before touring the Morro-Cabana Historical-Military Complex before witnessing the Cannon-firing ceremony.

 

On Tuesday, Dr Lungu will witness a wreath-laying ceremony in honour of Jose Marti, who is the National Hero of the Republic of Cuba.

 

Dr Lungu is, on the same day, expected to hold official talks with Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs before meeting Zambian students in Cuba.

 

The Minister is on the same day expected to meet with the Minister of Public Health.

 

On Wednesday, Dr Lungu is expected to visit Labiofam before meeting with the Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party.

 

The Minister will later meet Zambian students at the Latin American School of Medical Sciences.

 

On Thursday, Dr Lungu will tour the Colonial Havanna before departing for Lusaka.
