A new soccer academy, known as MUNO, has been established in Nchanga constituency of Chingola district in the Copperbelt province.

The soccer academy will be catering for under-20 boys and girls.

One of the founders, Clever Mandona, said the academy, which has the capacity to host over 80 young people, already has 65 youths.

Mandona disclosed that MUNO soccer academy also has a subordinate facility catering for under-14 boys and girls.

In a phone interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mandona urged youths to join the academy to boost their sports skills.

He said sport was a powerful tool for developing the moral uprightness of young people in the country.

He stated that youths, especially those from Chingola and those who may have been left out by soccer clubs, should visit the academy for them to benefit from its wide variety of programmes.

Mandona has since called on sports stakeholders, government and cooperating partners to support academies because these will significantly help in setting up developmental activities for young people across the country.

The academy was officially launched last weekend and graced by Chingola Deputy Mayor Titus Tembo.

MUNO soccer academy has since played four games which have resulted in two losses, a draw and a win.

  1. It is a good initiative which should be encouraged. Hope others will follow and open up more of such opportunities for our young folks in ZAMBIA.
