Mpulungu Disabled Association receives wheel chairs

Mpulungu, May 7, ZANIS ——-PET Zambia Ganaton Company of Kitwe has donated 40 wheel chairs worth thousands of Kwacha to be used by the physically challenged in Mpulungu district.

In an interview today, Mpulungu Disabled Association Chairperson Felix Chifunda confirmed receiving the donation.

Mr Chifunda said the wheel chairs will go a long way in addressing the transport challenges the physically challenged have been facing in the district.

He said the donated items will be distributed in 25 settlements within Mpulungu.

Mr Chifunda added that the disabled equally had a potential to contribute to economic development and run successful businesses, adding that lack of mobility was one of the major challenges that had been drawing them back.

He described the wheel chairs as ideal for the Mpulungu terrain.

Mr Chifunda commended the company for coming to the aid of his members and called other organizations and well-wishers to emulate PET Zambia.

Most physically challenged persons in Mpulungu have been facing problems of mobility.

Mr Chifunda added that the handover ceremony for the donated items had been slated for this month-end.
