Kalulushi Labour Day Committee has complained over the increase in fuel price saying the development will affect every worker.

Committee Chairperson, Chilumba Chilumba, said the move is unfair as the salaries at the moment are stagnant while claiming that the salary increment will also have lost its value by the time it will be put to effect in September.

Mr. Chilumba said this in Kalulushi today during the Labour Day celebrations.

He noted that this year’s Labour Day theme, "Transforming the Economy through Job creation, Labour Law reforms, better conditions of service and Improved work culture," is timely as the country has reached a point where it needs an accelerated economic agenda.

Mr. Chilumba said the four factors in the theme have the potential to contribute greatly to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

And speaking earlier, Kalulushi Mayor, Howard Simpemba, noted that Kalulushi is a growing town which also needs a speedy economic agenda in mining, agriculture and timber production.
