FAMED for her amazing collaboration with her brother, B1, on the song Sikiriti Ku Bed, striking singing diva Debrah Bee has this time around teamed up with reggae worshipper JC Madongo for their tourism crusade.
The duo, in their own quest to promote and market the local tourism sector ahead of the UNWTO, have released a song titled Moni Alendo (greetings to the visitors) in readiness for the much anticipated conference scheduled for August, 2013 to be co-hosted by Zambia and Zimbabwe.
According to Madongo, whose other brand new collaborated song with Burning Youth’s Jackie Tembo titled Chakwiza is on the lips of many a reggae fanatic, the song has already been tabled before the local organising committee for approval as one of the main theme songs.
Copies of the songs, Madongo said, have already been submitted to the Zambia National Tourist Board (ZNTB), the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture as well as the National Arts Council (NAC).
The song, which talks about the beauty and wonderful sights of Zambia’s tourism heritage, is a true reflection of the arts fraternity’s commitment to tourism in marketing the potential that is embedded in our country and stretched to neighbouring Zimbabwe.
From the thunderous waters of the Mosi-o-tunya (Victoria Falls), the rich traditional ceremonies, the national parks and their wild animals, the Livingstone Museum and its unmatched rich collections, including explorer David Livingstone’s regalia and written notes, the song is truly a befitting welcoming song.
The song is itself also a true reflection of the abundant untapped talent among our local contemporary musicians, who for a long time have been striving to market their works abroad as well as the peaceful nature that Zambians are known for beyond its borders.
Featuring relatively talented musicians in their own right, including the Sakala Brothers’ multi-talented guitarist, Sam ‘Gunde’ Silwamba on lead guitar, his brother Augustine on rhythm, Jackie Tembo (bass), his teen-age son, Zikale Tembo (drums), the song is simply an amazing tourism masterpiece that should be listened to and raved years after the conference, which will be held in Livingstone and Victoria Falls towns of Zambia and Zimbabwe, respectively.
During the UNWTO, Madongo and his band are also expected to perform at various venues in Livingstone alongside some resident bands and traditional outfits that will showcase their massive talents before local and foreign tourists.
Over the months, the local organising committee has been putting final touches to the expected attractions, including the rehabilitation of the Maramba Cultural Village, where local traditional groups from various parts of the country will be luring the tourists in the real Zambian tourism expedition.
