Sata arrives in Choma

-President Michael Sata, has arrived in Choma en-route to Chief Chikanta’s palace in Kalomo district.

The President, who arrived at Choma airstrip at about mid-morning, was received by Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe and other government and party officials.

Addressing hundreds of residents who welcomed him, President Sata said he wants Choma to develop into a proper provincial capital.

He said government will soon start putting up necessary infrastructure to support the new provincial capital status.

He said when he visits Choma next time he would like to inspect the construction works of the new provincial administration headquarters.

President Sata urged the people of Southern Province to join hands with the Patriotic Front government in developing the province.

He reminded Choma residents that one province cannot form a government.

The President has since flown to Chief Chikanta’s palace where he has been invited by chiefs in the province.

The chiefs have organized a function to thank government and President Sata in particular for appointing Daniel Munkombwe as Southern Province Minister.

The President is expected to return to Lusaka soon after the function.

He is accompanied by Commerce Minister, Emmanuel Chenda and other senior government officials.
