TAZARA operations going on well-Simuchile

The Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) train operations are running perfectly well following the resumption of operations last Wednesday 17thApril.

TAZARA operations were suspended for over 10 days following an accident along the railway line over three weeks ago.

TAZARA Head of Public Relations Conrad Simuchile disclosed that more than 7, 500 metric tonnes of freight has been successfully delivered to intended destinations in the last five days with copper and maize comprising the bulk of the cargo delivered to the final destination in Dar es Salaam.

Mr. Simuchile told ZANIS in a statement released in Lusaka today that 3, 624.50 metric tonnes of copper and 2, 980.60 metric tonnes of maize were successfully delivered to Dar es Salaam.

He said other commodities that were successfully delivered to Mbeya and new Kapiri Mposhi between 17thand 21st April include fuel and sulphur concentrates.

Mr. Simuchile further said the authority was anticipating moving not less than 10, 000 metric tonnes of freight traffic for the week ending 28 April, 2013.

The TAZARA Head of Public Relations has meanwhile disclosed that passenger trains have equally been running well.

He said both the Mukuba and Kilimanjaro Express Trains that commenced operations this Tuesday will run from Kapiri Mposhi and Dar es Salaam on time.

  1. These managers that we have in tazara, people are dying with hunger and you are busy saying you doing fine. Simuchile when are you going to pay march and april salaries???
