Scott lauds traditional ceremonies


Mongu, April 21, 2013, ZANIS–Government says traditional ceremonies play an important role in preserving the country’s culture.


Republican vice president Dr Guy Scott made the remarks yesterday when he graced the 2013 Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people of western province.


Dr Scott pledged governments continued commitment to supporting various traditional ceremonies in the country as they help to unify and bring the people together.


The vice president said he was delighted to officiate at the Kuomboka ceremony of the Lozi people this year.


Dr Scott was thrilled with the splendour surrounding the Kuomboka ceremony.


Meanwhile, Dr Scott says the PF government is determined to developing western province.


He cited the construction of the Mongu-Kalabo road as one of the projects government will ensure is completed.

The Mongu-Kalabo road once completed will be an important economic link between Zambia and Angola opening up the route to the ocean as well ease access to the huge oil deposits in the former Portuguese colony.
