North-Western chiefs advised to co-exist

Kabompo, Apr 5/13 ZANIS——-Chiefs in North-Western Province have been urged to co -exist and love one another if they were to actively partner with government to develop the region.

Home Affairs Deputy Minister, Nickson Chilangwa, made the call when he addressed heads of government departments in Kabompo yesterday.

Mr Chilangwa said the PF government does not condone rampant tribalism that has been going on since independence in the province because it had affected development in the area for a long time now.

He said chiefs in North-Western Province should emulate their counterparts in Northern, Luapula and Eastern provinces where they have no jealousy but only concentrate on developing their areas in partnership with the government of the day.

He warned that as long as chiefs did not come together, there would be no meaningful development in the province.

Mr Chilangwa said he was aware of the demand by chiefs and stakeholders in the province to move the provincial headquarters from Solwezi to Kabompo which was a central place.

He said all chiefs should unite and concentrate on development instead of pulling themselves on tribal lines.
