The Kapiri Mposhi constituency by-election was necessitated by the
Supreme Court’s nullification of the election of Lawrence Zimba (MMD) as MP after a
successful petition by Eddie Musonda who had lost on the PF ticket in the 2011 general elections.

The ruling PF and two opposition parties UPND and UNIP are contesting the Kapiri Mposhi constituency by-election.

The PF has re-adopted Eddie Musonda while the opposition UPND
is fielding Lawrence Zimba and the UNIP candidate is Francis Mwape.
