Mount Meru win Namwala filling station approval
Namwala, April 4, 2013, ZANIS, Namwala district will soon have a filling station following the approval of the project by the Namwala district council .
In an interview with ZANIS, Namwala Council Secretary Packson Banda confirmed the development and that the applicant Mount Meru had satisfied all the necessary requirements except for a survey which will be done soon.
The filling station is expected to be operational by the end of June .
Mr Banda has also disclosed that the Ministry of local government has set aside some funds for the street lighting exercise in the district and that a contractor has already been selected.
Mr Banda said the council is only awaiting approval from Ministry of local Government and the Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) before the project could commence.
The council secretary has also disclosed that a company which he declined to name has shown interest to set-up a shopping mall in Namwala.
Mr. Banda said it was the desire of the council to raise the status to a municipality by attracting investments in the district.
