– The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) Kapiri-Mposhi Constituency Campaign Manager Phillip Kosamu says PF behaved well and never engaged itself in violence when it served in the opposition.

Mr. Kosamu said he is surprised the manner in which the opposition of today is conducting itself instead of emulating the ruling party.

Mr. Kosamu wondered where the opposition political parties were getting the courage from and engaging in violent activities.

He disclosed this in an in interview with ZANIS in Kapiri-Mposhi district.

“PF never engaged ourselves in violence when we served in the opposition under MMD government and l’m wondering and surprised where the opposition of today are getting the courage from to become so violent,” Mr. Kosamu said.

He said the PF is adhering to the Electoral Code of Conduct where by-elections were being conducted.

He added that the PF is clean and cannot allow its cadres to act in hooliganism because the party manifesto does not allow violent acts.

He said he expects a free and fair campaigns in the run-up-to the forth coming Kapiri-Mposhi parliamentary election set for April 23rd, this year.

Mr. Kosamu, who is also Central Province Minister, condemned the behaviors of some selfish political leaders who allow their cadres to fight during political campaigns.

Livingstone, Mufumbwe, Rufunsa and Mapatizya constituencies had experienced high levels of violence.

The Minister said he is happy that the Electoral Commission of Zambia was doing and putting everything possible in educating the political parties.

Three candidates are contesting the Kapiri Mposhi parliamentary by elections. Ruling PF is fielding Eddie Musonda, UNIP has Francis Mwape and Lawrence Zimba is standing on the UPND ticket.
