Police nab call boy for murder in Luwingu District 

Luwingu,  March 28th, 2013,  ZANIS —- Police in Luwingu district in the Northern Province have arrested a 25 year old man of Tolopa village in chief Chipalo area who was also operating as a call Boy operating at Luwingu main bus station for murder contrary to the laws of Zambia..

 

Police reliable sources at police station confirmed the development to Zambia news and information service in Luwingu today.

 

The sources identified the suspect as Simon Mumbi 25 of Tolopa village in chief Chipalo area saying he was arrested after he murdered Moses Kalimashi 30 of Goodson Mulenga village of the same chiefdom.

 

“We have arrested Simon Mumbi aged 25 of Tolopa village for the offence of murder contrary to section 200 of chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia,” the sources said.

 

The incident occurred yesterday at the bus station after the two differed over a customer who was trying to bond a bus to get to Mansa district in Luapula province.

 

It is alleged that Simon and Moses who are both call boys at Luwingu main bus station picked up a quarrel over a customer who came to bond transport to Mansa at around 09:40. Moses upon seeing the customer he rushed and helped the customer by carrying his bag and lead him to the (Noah) minibus which was loading at that time.

 

A police sources said the visibly annoyed Simon followed behind and punched his friend on his left side chest fell unconsciously.

 

“it seems Simon was not happy that his friend whose bus was almost full to continue enticing customers to bond his bus he was loading by the way both were loading different (Noah) minibus before the fight erupted yesterday” police reliable source said.

 

“The argument started with a joke saying kutinakuma his friend said tenti, kuti nakuma tenti ugume {I can beat you and his friend answered you can} and the fight erupted just like that,” police said.

 

The source said Moses was helped by his fellow call boys to get to the police station where he was issued with a police medical report form. But on their way to the hospital at around 10:30 Moses died.

 

“We gave him a medical report form but on their way before they could reach the hospital Moses died. The accused person was immediately apprehended and brought to the police by angry mob,” they added

 

The deceased body is lying at the district hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem while Simon is remanded in custody he will appear before magistrate court for murder contrary to section 200 of chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
