—The Solwezi Municipal Council has appealed to the Ministry of Local Government and Housing to assist the institution building a fire station and acquire a fire fighting equipment in the district.

Town Clerk, Ronald Daka, said the increase in population and economic activities in the district has made it necessary to have appropriate fire fighting equipment.

Mr Daka made the appeal when he gave a vote of thanks during the commissioning of the road equipment by Local Government and Housing Minister, Emerine Kabanshi, over the weekend.

He said a fire station and fire equipment have become a challenge to the local authority and will require the support of the ministry to address.

Mr Daka said the council is currently using a 1948 fire engine which is not able to cope with the current status quo of the district.

Ms Kabanshi commissioned road construction equipment worth KR 11 million over the weekend which Solwezi municipal council bought.
