The Association of Consulting Engineers of Zambia (ACEZ) has urged government to put in place mechanisms that will ensure full participation of locally based consulting engineers in privately financed foreign direct investment projects in sectors such as mining, tourism and energy.

Association Chairman Patrick Kampengele said there is need to introduce policies that promote the growth of local consulting engineers.

Mr Kampengele was speaking during a media cocktail at Radisson Blue Hotel in Lusaka last night.

He said the association aims to maintain high quality and professional and ethical standard in order to manage the overall need of its clients in the delivery of projects.

Mr Kampengele said the association also strives to go beyond the technical aspect of infrastructure development and record management in the social and environmental obligation of sustainable development.

He urged members of the association to ensure that the provision of their strategic plan adhere to the three basic principles which include sustainability, ethics, integrity and quality.

Mr Kampengele also appealed for financial support from government and the international agencies for it to achieve its planned objectives.
