A critical water shortage has again hit Kalingalinga and some parts of Mtendere townships in Lusaka.

Johnson Mukuka, a resident Development committee (RDC) Member in Kalingalinga said the situation has gone out of hand and called on the Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company to quickly move in and resolve the correct the situation.

Speaking to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Mr Mukuka said residents are forced to wake up as early as 04 hours in the morning to fetch water for domestic use .

Mr Mukuka said while water is life, the situation in the two townships makes it difficult for the people to leave a normal life as the commodity is scarce.

And in Mtendere, a water pipe in C section has burst creating an artificial crisis of the commodity.

Benson Nyirenda, a senior citizen told ZANIS that despite the problem having been reported to Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company, nothing has been done for four days now.

Mr Nyirenda said LWSC should be pro-active in the manner they discharge their duties if the company was to be appreciated by the people they serve.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a comment from Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company Public Relation Officer Toppsy Sikalinda proved futile by press time as his phone went unanswered.
