Sinjembela MP bemoans poor TV, radio reception in Shang’ombo

– Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Poniso Njeulu has bemoaned the poor radio and television signal in Shango’mbo district in Western province.

 

Mr. Njeulu, who also Sinjembela Member of Parliament (MP) said he would there facilitate for the provision of facilities television and radio signal and also the establishment of Shango’mbo community radio station in the district.

 

He said the absence of a community radio station, coupled with poor mobile phone network, was a hindrance to information needs of the people of Shango’mbo district.

 

He said government has given the district four network towers to enhance mobile phone network.

 

Mr. Njeulu disclosed this today when he addressed a rally in Ngandwe area in Shang’ombo district.

 

He has since promised to engage relevant authorities to arrest the situation.

 

Meanwhile, Shango’mbo District Commissioner Martin Mwauluka has warned civil servants in the district against excessive beer drinking at the expense of government work.

 

The warning comes in the wake of numerous reports of alcohol abuse among health workers at Natukoma clinic.

 

Mr. Mwauluka warned that he will not hesitate to discipline any officer who will prioritise beer drinking instead of serving the suffering rural community.

 

Members of the community complained to the Deputy Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services, that there was poor service delivery at the clinic because health workers abandoned the institution to go and drink beer in the nearby villages.
