Mufulira man dies from suicide another electrocuted in Ndola

A 22Year old man of Mufulira’s Chibolya compound has committed suicide by
hanging himself with a wire in his bedroom.

Copperbelt province Commanding officer Derick Simwanza confirmed in a
statement that Amos Mwansa of house number R.C.806 Chibolya compound
committed suicide on March, 14 2013 around 01.00hrs.

“We received a report that a young man had committed suicide from his father
Robin Mwansa who came to report the matter to the police, his father narrated
that he left for work and left his family in good health and everything at home
was okay, he said they had supper together with the deceased and they all
retired to bed when he heard a knock from his daughter who woke up when she
was told by her 8 year old young brother that her brother Amos Mwansa had
hanged himself in the bedroom using a wire,” Simwanza said.

He said police officers who visited the scene confirmed the suicide.

And the body of the deceased is lying in Kamuchanga hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile an unknown man in Ndola between the age 20 and 26 has been
electrocuted when he attempted to cut a ZESCO power cable.

Copperbelt province Commanding officer Derick Simwanza said the victim’s
body was found lying near a ZESCO electric pole at Drum and Cane substation
in Ndola’s Northrise area.

He said the incident occurred on March 19, between 02.00hrs and 21.00hrs at
the said substation.

Facts of the matter are that the deceased had cut the ZESCO medium voltage
cable from the substation,

“A knife and a fourteen spanner was found at the scene, so we are suspecting he
cut the medium voltage cable that led to his electrocution,” he said.

The body of the deceased is lying in Ndola central hospital mortuary and an
inquiry file has since been opened.

And a 31 year old of Kitwe’s Mindolo west has been found dead at the main
entrance of Provident guest house along Mpenzeni road of Kitwe’s Parklands
are.

Copperbelt province Commanding officer Derick Simwanza said in a statement
that Amos Ng’ambi of house number 69, 4th street Mindolo west was found
lying dead in the drainage with a cut on the left side of his head.

 

“The deceased was found dead in drainage with a cut on the left side of his
head which is suspected to have been sustained when he fell in the drainage,”
Simwanza said.

The body of the deceased is lying in Kitwe central mortuary awaiting
postmortem.
