President Michael Sata has expressed deep regret and sorrow at the death of Chieftainess Sonkontwe of the Ushi people of Milenge District in Luapula Province.
In his message of condolences to Luapula Province Minister Brigadier General Benson Kapaya, President Sata noted that since her ascendance to the throne, the late Chieftainess Sonkotwe lead the way in promoting local development and upholding peace among her people and beyond.
In a statement released to ZANIS in Lusaka today by Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations, George Chellah, President Sata stated that the death of Chieftainess Sonkotwe will be strongly felt by all Zambians.
The President has since conveyed his heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the royal family on behalf of the people of Zambia and the Zambian government.
Mr. Sata has also wished the royal family God’s comfort during this distressing period.
Chieftainess Sonkotwe passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013 in Milenge.
