—————–A taxi has overturned in
Kabwe Mine Hospital area leaving a female passenger dead.

The taxi is said to have overturned around 16:20 hours after an alleged chase by
the police who yesterday embarked on a broad patrol of curbing pirate taxi operations in Kabwe.

The Toyota Carina registration number ACT 8552 overturned after an alleged long chase by the police patrol team.

The vehicle which is used as a pirate taxi, was being driven by Moses
Mwiinga whose whereabouts are still unknown.

The female passenger who died on the spot is yet to be identified.

One of the pirate taxi drivers at the scene, Kesha Mumba
narrated the ordeal to ZANIS.

“The police patrol team came at Shoprite taxi rank and upon seeing
them, Moses drove off and they started chasing him. Now we’ve just
discovered that his vehicle has overturned, Moses is nowhere to be
seen but unfortunately the female passenger he had carried died on the
spot and has been rushed to Kabwe Mine hospital.” Narrated Mumba.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a comment from Central Province Police
Chief, Standwell Lungu proved futile in that he had not yet received
details of the incident by press time.
