Heavy rains wash away Moba bridge
Mwense, March 15, 2013 – ZANIS – Mwense district commissioner Victor Kasuba has appealed to the Road Development Agency – RDA and the Rural Roads Unit to urgently replace the Moba bridge which has been washed away by heavy rains.
The district commissioner said the bridge is a critical link to the main district for people to access basic needs.
He added that even school going children of Moba School are not attending classes because they have been cut off.
Mr Kasuba advised that in the interim, there was need to secure a reliable boat which could be used to transport the school children across the river.
Mr. Kasuba added that the bridge connected Kalundu area of his district to Kawambwa and provided the shortest route for the people.
He disclosed that although the bridge was constructed by the local community it was important as it affected the lives of the people in the area significantly.
