Kalulushi Mayor warns Councillors over land allocation

 

Kalulushi, March 12, 2013 ZANIS———–Kalulushi Municipal Council Mayor Howard Simpemba has called on councillors to avoid involving themselves in illegal land allocation because it was detrimental to national development.

Mr Simpemba said civic leaders should stay away from land allocation and leave the job to council technocrats.

Mr Simpemba sounded the warning during the 2nd Ordinary meeting for the council.

"Let’s maintain the spirit and the pace at which we are moving on the issues of land, let not a mayor or Councillor allocate land to the people," said Councillor Simpemba.

The Mayor stated that government through the council was working hard to bring back the integrity in land allocation saying it was imperative that Councillors lead exemplary lives.

He bemoaned the bad perception that has been created by the public due to dishonest councillors.
