—Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock Greyford Monde has expressed utmost disappointment at the poor youth participation during this year’s youth day celebrations in Itezhi Tezhi.
Mr Monde was annoyed that there was poor organization by the Itezhi Tezhi District Coordinating Committee for this important day.
Mr. Monde has since asked the District Youth coordinating committee to submit a report as to why they should continue to hold their positions if they cannot manage to organize such an important national event.
“The organisers could not even find a PA system, let alone some flowers for the high table? Is the youth celebration just for school going children?” Mr. Monde asked.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister earlier led scores of youths in matching from the District Commissioner’s office to Masemu ground were the celebrations were held.
The minster was accompanied by the District Commissioner and other district heads of government departments.
And Mr. Monde said the Patriotic Front Government is focusing on job creation especially for the youths.
“We want to create employment for the youths by empowering them using the youth empowerment fund” Mr. Monde said.
He informed the youths that his office has applied to the Ministry of Youth and Sport for funds to complete the stalled construction of the youth skills Centre.
And speaking earlier, Itezhi Tezhi District youth Representative Louis Mayapi appealed to government to complete the youth skills centre.
“It is a pity that 13 years after Itezhi Tezhi was declared a district, it has no skills centre. We therefore call upon you to consider funding the facility using CDF 2013 funds” Mayapi said.
