Luwingu women takes cleaning as part of their Day’s commemoration

 

Luwingu, March 5, ZANIS- Scores of women in Luwingu district in the Northern Province have embarked on the cleaning of the district hospital and the prison as part of the activities to mark this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations.

 

Luwingu District Commissioner, Mambwe Katontoka who was found leading the women in the cleaning exercise at the district hospital said women have welcomed the cleaning of the district hospital, prisons and the Luwingu high school as part of the activities for this year’s international women’s day.

 

“As you can see, these women, some of them have come from the nearby villages to help clean our district hospital and others are cleaning the prison yard while others have gone to the high school, this is our day,” she disclosed.

 

Mrs Katontoka said the International Women Day is celebrated annually with a view of encouraging women’s full and equal participation in the political and other social developments.

 

She said women’s full participation in politics and economic arena is fundamental to democracy and justice which women are demanding.
