Civic leader appeals for road rehabilitation
Luwingu, March 4, ZANIS ——- Patriotic Front Mushinga Ward Councillor has appealed to the government to allocate funds to rehabilitate Musele-Katuta-Sobingi road which is in a deplorable state.
Kenny Mulenga told Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) that the road has been washed away by heavy rains making it difficult for motorist to reach Chief Katuta and other surrounding areas.
Mr Mulenga said the road is vital as it was the only route to get to Chief Katuta, Bulaya and Mulala and short cut to Samfya district in the Luapula province.
The councillor said that if the road won’t be work on this year, then it will be very difficult to transport agricultural produce in that area.
The civic leader however, commended government for early distribution of fertilizer in Chief Katuta saying peasant farmers in the chiefdom have finished applying both basal and top dressing fertilizers.
Mr Mulenga disclosed that his area was given fertilizer in time due to the bad road and the weather pertains.
